Canvas Rebel Interview: Meet Natalie Hilscher

Canvas Rebel July 13, 2023 We recently connected with Natalie Hilscher and have shared our conversation below.

Natalie, appreciate you joining us today. Can you talk to us about how you learned to do what you do?

Hi, thanks for having me! I learned a lot of the basics of marketing in college classes, but most of the marketing knowledge I use every day was gained afterward.

Watching videos, listening to podcasts, and learning from other professionals in the industry have been key to my growth. For those getting into marketing, even if you studied the subject in college, it’s really up to you to get more specialized with your learning and make sure you’re staying up-to-date with the latest trends/news.

I think that having a marketing mentor earlier on would’ve sped up the process. In the past few years, my network has gotten much wider and allowed me to gather insight from a lot more sources. I now have a group of people I trust and I can go to with questions. Not having this network early on was a big obstacle.

Networking is a really important skill for any entrepreneur.

Other essential skills for those in marketing and design are creativity, communication, and adaptability. You need to be able to come up with fresh ideas that will resonate with your target audience, communicate those ideas effectively, and be able to adapt to changes in the market.

Natalie, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

Absolutely. I’m the co-founder and co-owner of De Lu Studios, a creative design and marketing agency that specializes in helping businesses grow their brand and reach their target audience. We provide a wide range of services including branding, video, web design, social media management, and more.

We believe that every business has a unique story to tell, and we work closely with our clients to help them tell that story in a way that resonates with their target audience.

What sets us apart from other agencies is our commitment to quality and our focus on building long-term relationships with our clients. We take the time to get to know our clients and their businesses so that we can create custom solutions that meet their specific needs.

We’re very proud of the relationships we’ve built with our clients over the years. We’ve helped businesses of all sizes grow and succeed, and we’re honored to have been a part of their journey.

Is there a mission driving your creative journey?

When I’m working with an individual or team, I’ve realized that it’s not necessarily the numbers… ROI, growth percentage, etc… that are driving me. Although, yes, that’s very important. But what truly gets me out of bed in the morning is knowing that through my marketing, I’m able to help others.

I only work with businesses that I align with and believe the world needs their services. When I see the impact my work has on my clients and on their clients, it’s incredibly rewarding. There’s nothing quite like seeing a business grow and thrive because of the work that we’ve done together.

My mission is to delight my clients, surpass their expectations, and help them make an impact in the world.

Has your business ever had a near-death moment? Would you mind sharing the story?

Several years ago, we had a close partnership with another marketing company and did a significant amount of our business under them. Unfortunately, that partnership ended very suddenly and left us feeling confused about why. Maybe they were experiencing difficulties we didn’t know about. To this day, I’m not sure.

Many of the companies asked to continue with us despite that broken partnership, and we’ve since built much stronger partnerships with them. But we learned a very valuable lesson from this near-death moment for the business.
